South Carolina’s Leading TimberTech Installer

A deck in coastal South Carolina has to stand up to intense sun, high humidity, heavy rain, salt air, and storm season. Traditional wood can require frequent staining and sealing just to keep deterioration under control. TimberTech decking offers a lower-maintenance alternative that resists many of the problems that damage a wood deck.

Since 2015, Contract Exteriors has completed more TimberTech decking installations in South Carolina than any other contractor. Our experience has helped us refine every part of the decking installation process, from product selection and permitting to board layout and final inspection. We install TimberTech composite and AZEK PVC decking throughout the Charleston and Myrtle Beach areas, with every project backed by our seven-year workmanship warranty.

TimberTech Composite and AZEK PVC Decking

TimberTech offers two primary material options: capped composite decking and AZEK PVC decking. Both eliminate the need for annual staining and sealing, but their construction, performance, and warranty coverage differ. We’ll walk you through both options so you can choose based on your home, budget, exposure, and long-term expectations.

TimberTech Composite Decking

TimberTech composite decking combines wood fibers with synthetic materials to create boards that resist rot, splintering, and moisture damage better than traditional lumber. A protective cap surrounds the boards, helping prevent stains, fading, and water absorption.

For coastal homeowners, composite decking offers several practical advantages:

  • No annual staining or sealing

  • No splinters, cracked boards, or exposed fasteners

  • Better resistance to rot and insect damage than wood

  • A broad selection of colors and wood-inspired finishes

  • Product and fade-and-stain warranties ranging from 25 to 30 years

Composite is often the right fit for homeowners who want the appearance of wood with far less ongoing maintenance.

TimberTech AZEK PVC Decking

TimberTech AZEK decking is made entirely from cellular PVC, with no wood fibers in the boards. That means there is no organic material to absorb moisture, swell, or rot.

AZEK is TimberTech’s premium decking option and is especially well suited to homes exposed to persistent humidity, salt air, or standing water. It’s also a strong choice for homeowners who want maximum longevity from their investment.

Benefits include:

  • Exceptional resistance to moisture and decay

  • No wood content that can rot or absorb water

  • Low-maintenance performance in humid conditions

  • A wide range of natural-looking colors and finishes

  • A 50-year fade-and-stain limited warranty

For homes close to the beach, around pools, or in areas with poor drainage, AZEK PVC is worth considering.

Decking and Railing Designed Together

The railing is a major part of how a finished deck looks and functions. We can incorporate TimberTech porch railing into your project so the materials, colors, and proportions work together from the beginning.

Available configurations can provide a more traditional appearance, an open view, or a clean modern look. During your consultation, we can help you compare rail profiles, colors, balusters, and other design details that complement your decking selection and home exterior.

Why TimberTech Works Well Near the South Carolina Coast

A wood deck may look good when it is first installed, but coastal weather can make it difficult to maintain. Moisture seeps into boards, direct sun breaks down finishes, and repeated wet-and-dry cycles can cause warping, cracking, splintering, and rot.

TimberTech composite and AZEK PVC decking are made to avoid many of those problems. The boards do not require painting, staining, or sealing, and their capped surfaces resist moisture and fading. Routine cleaning is generally all that is needed to keep the deck looking its best.

Our TimberTech Deck Installation Process

We use a detailed internal process to keep projects organized and consistent. You will have a clear understanding of what happens next and who is responsible for each phase.

Design and Product Selection

We start by discussing how you plan to use the deck, what you like about your current outdoor space, and what needs to change. From there, we help you compare composite and PVC collections, colors, board widths, railing options, and layout ideas.

Site Review and Planning

Our team measures the project area and reviews the existing structure, access points, grading, and connection to the home. For replacement projects, we determine whether the old framing can remain or if the deck requires a complete rebuild.

Permitting and Installation

Deck permitting can be particularly involved in the Charleston area. We manage the required submissions, follow-ups, and inspections as part of the project. Once approved, the deck is built according to the agreed-upon design and the manufacturer's installation requirements.

Final Inspection and Walkthrough

After construction, we inspect the deck, review the finished work with you, and answer questions about care and maintenance. Your installation is covered by our seven-year workmanship warranty along with the applicable TimberTech manufacturer warranties.

New Deck Construction and Full Deck Replacement

We install TimberTech decking for new additions and complete deck replacements. We do not offer small repairs or isolated board replacement.

For an aging deck, a full replacement gives us the opportunity to inspect the structure, correct layout or drainage problems, and build a system that properly supports the new decking. It also allows you to rethink the size, stairs, traffic flow, and railing rather than recreating a layout that no longer works for your home.

Wow, this company goes above and beyond. From the very first reach out to the very last interaction once the job was completed. Everything was done first class. The quality of work, the constant communication and level of service was like nothing I’ve ever experienced with any contractor. I priced out a couple different contractors compared to contractor exteriors and I will tell you I would have paid more just to have this experience with them. I had Jonathan as my project manager and he was exceptional.

We couldn't be happier with contract exteriors and the job they did. Our beach house looks brand new with the new Hardie board and white trim. EVERYONE was friendly, well mannered, professional, and was always ready to answer any questions that we had. Miguel and his crew did an excellent job. Brooks the project manager was wonderful, and also Chad who helped us from the very beginning, also the girls in the office. We would not hesitate to use them again.

This company did an amazing job on my siding project. From start to finish they were very professional, helpful, and on time. Eugenia clearly communicated the whole process to me before they even started the project and Brooks was always available to answer my questions. Matt Kuzdrall made our whole experience of purchasing two new roofs for our buildings at the Children's Recovery Center so easy. Matt was professional and had all the answers to any questions we had. He has followed up since our new roofs have been installed to make sure everything is still great. Matt is awesome and I would recommend him to anyone I know looking for a new roof.
